Staatsbosbeheer is looking for farmers who are willing to contribute to nature-inclusive agriculture in Drentsche Aa National Park. From today until June 30, interested farmers can register via biedboek.nl. With this call, Staatsbosbeheer aims to enhance the nature values in the area and increase biodiversity. Farmers who are willing to promote nature on both leased and their own land are eligible for this lease.

Leasing opportunities and objectives

Staatsbosbeheer leases approximately forty thousand hectares of nature land, mainly grassland, to about three thousand tenants. In the Drentsche Aa area, preference is given to farmers who are willing to work in a nature-inclusive manner. This approach is intended to strengthen nature, increase total biodiversity in rural areas, and offer agriculture a sustainable economic perspective. Selected farmers are offered lease contracts for a period of up to 12 years, providing them with long-term security. The registration process helps Staatsbosbeheer identify farmers who fit the set management goals for the various types of nature.

Nature-Inclusive agriculture and registration

Nature-inclusive agriculture in the Drentsche Aa area aims to preserve the cultural landscape that has been shaped by farmers over the centuries. Staatsbosbeheer collaborates with farmers who integrate nature values into their farming practices. Farmers who meet the entry requirements can count on support from Staatsbosbeheer, including participation in learning network meetings, access to the knowledge and expertise of Staatsbosbeheer, and long-term lease contracts. Interested farmers can express their interest by filling out the form on biedboek.nl. For questions about the registration, they can contact via email: pachtdrentscheaa@staatsbosbeheer.nl. More information about the program and collaboration with farmers can be found at staatsbosbeheer.nl/natuurinclusiefboeren.

With this initiative, Staatsbosbeheer is committed to promoting more nature-inclusive agriculture, thereby contributing to the transition of agriculture in Drenthe. Enhancing biodiversity is not only important in nature reserves but also in the surrounding agricultural areas. Partnership with tenants is central to this approach, aiming to strengthen nature and make agriculture future-proof.
