Poiesz and Plus have reached an agreement on the takeover of a Plus branch in Rolde, Drenthe. This move marks a steady expansion of Poiesz's market dominance and relevance in the Northern Netherlands. The branch in question, previously a Coop run by the entrepreneurial couple Barelds, has recently undergone modernization and will now be transformed into a Poiesz supermarket. Although much of the existing infrastructure will be retained, the store will be adapted to Poiesz's specific formula elements, including an extensive range of vegetables, a traditional bakery and butcher shop, a drinks shop, a self-scanning square, a service checkout, and more.

The expansion of the Poiesz formula is fueled by the success of the company's 100th anniversary and the associated turnover results. The general manager, Piet Smit, emphasizes the importance of these investments for the future growth and continuity of the family business. Although delivery of the branch is scheduled for the end of March, there are still some things to be completed according to Poiesz, which pushes the exact opening date to the end of April 2024.

Rolde serves approximately 2,000 households with two supermarkets, one of which was previously a Plus branch that switched to Albert Heijn. The future Poiesz supermarket will have an area of 650 m2, while the Albert Heijn of entrepreneur Chris Marinus will have an area of 943 m2. Competition in the region is further strengthened by larger supermarket chains in nearby places such as Gieten, where both a Jumbo and a Lidl can be found.
