Accident on N33 between Gieten and Rolde causes delays
The N33 between Gieten and Rolde was temporarily closed after an accident involving several vehicles. The accident, which resulted in no injuries, involved two garbage trucks that were on their way to Beilen to collect waste paper, a van with a trailer and a passenger car with a trailer.
Traffic towards Assen came to a complete standstill, which led to a delay of more than half an hour. The entrance to the N33 near Gieten was closed, causing traffic to detour. One lane has now been reopened and traffic is slowly starting to get going again.
The police are on site and are investigating the cause of the accident. According to unconfirmed reports, the passenger car's trailer swayed and then overturned. Berger Hamstra from Tynaarlo and Keizer from Stadskanaal recovered the vehicles.
