De Vreugdedans
“De Vreugdedans” or “The Dancing Lady”, a beautiful bronze statue created by the renowned artist Kees Verkade, was a prominent presence in the Rolde deer park. However, this work of art, owned by the municipality of Aa en Hunze, was suddenly lifted from its pedestal and disappeared in July 2018, without leaving a trace.
The statue had originally stood in the Deer Camp on the Bosrand since 2007, but it had a turbulent history. In the past it was repeatedly vandalized when it was still on the Brink in Rolde. Despite extensive efforts, the perpetrators were never found and every trace of the image is missing.
